The bouquet below was picked from the garden outside my room. The yellow dahlia is larger than the full span of my hand, and the lavender adds a delicious aroma. I don't believe I have ever had a dahlia of my own before, although I have collected their names, when they are on show in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. My favorite name is "Skipley Moonglow."After dinner on Wednesday there was a full moon, and I headed out for a solo hike. Three Hour Tour
I was lucky enough to go on a tour of the Djerassi grounds with Sarah, with Skip acting as our tour guide. Most of the lands here are extremely hilly so some of the trails and artwork are hard to get to on foot.I believe the sculpture below is Mygon by Ron Fondaw.Sarah Perry, an extraordinary artist and friend. Djerassi Residency
After a seven hour trip in my car, and a Moon Over My Hammy sandwich at Denny's, I arrived at the Djerassi ranch. After miles of serpentine single lane roads, only one word came to mind for the setting--spectacular. Settling into my studio and meeting the other artists has been really fun. Maybe too much fun, as I woke up at 4 AM wondering what to do....So I picked through the library and found the excellent David Markson experimental novel, Vanishing Point.
